Builder's Model of PX-15 BEN FRANKLIN
Category: Models

Exquisitely done and highly accurate, this builder's model of PX-15 BEN FRANKLIN was built from scratch by Erwin Aebersold, who joined Jacques Piccard in the design of the famous submersible. Aebersold oversaw the sub's construction, and then piloted BEN FRANKLIN on its historic Gulf Stream Drift Mission in 1969. The model depicts the submersible as it looked during the Gulf Stream Mission. It was donated by Mr. Aebersold to the Museum in 2004. In this image he is shown at home with his model before shipping it to Vancouver.
